Crash Landing On You

crash landing on you

This pandemic hit won over a slew of K-drama fans all over the world, and it’s true that the story gave everyone a decent ending. But we can’t deny the fact that we are hungry for more details of what happens next to our beloved Ri-Ri couple. We see them blissfully enjoying each other’s company far away from their divided country. But what happens when everything about their star-crossed love story comes to light? Both of them are prominent figures and the scandal they got into can bear some political repercussions. Will our handsome captain (Hyun Bin) defect his home country and finally build a life with Se-ri (Son Ye Jin) in the South? Or will they still continue to meet in secret just to keep the peace? Another season with an excellent storyline would definitely keep many looking forward to it.

Hotel Del Luna

Okay, we’ve been waiting and there’s still no clue on whether the second season will push through. This fantasy-horror ended with a teaser on who the next hotel guardian will be, and that is no other than Kim Soo Hyun. In his 60-second cameo in the last episode, we see him walking past employees and then up a flight of stairs wearing a clean-cut suit and holding a glass of alcohol as he says, “The moon has risen. It’s time to start business.” When the 12 divine Ma Gos came together, the first (Seo Yi Sook) says that she brought a new surprising owner so the hotel’s lodgings must continue. She then goes on to say that the hotel will now be called. “Hotel Blue Moon,” which looks a tad bit different from the hotel run by Jang Man Wol (IU).

Reply 1988

reply 1988

By far, Reply 1988 was considered by most to be the best in the Reply trilogy as it centered on family. While the parents have always been a focal point in the entire trilogy, 1988 takes it to a whole new level. The series also followed the main character Sung Duk Seon (Lee Hye Ri) and her group of friends. Every one of the characters is fleshed out so strongly that you’ll never forget who’s who. Everyone’s happy with who Duk Seon finally ended up with, but we want to know more about the loveable characters. They all give us heartwarming nostalgia, but we also want to know how everybody’s lives turned out years down the line. It wouldn’t hurt to dream, right?

The World of the Married

world of the married

This romance melodrama is one of the biggest hits to air in 2020. Although it was based on the British series, Dr. Foster, the K-drama version gave it justice. It went on to become the highest-rated drama in Korean cable TV history. The final episode showed us how forgiveness rules above all. But can that be enough to heal broken ties and the trauma is left to the child caught in between? We admit that we want to know what happened to Ji Sun Woo (Kim Hee-Ae). Will she ever reconcile with Lee Tae Oh (Park Hae Joon)? If they do, can it really be water under the bridge for the two of them? If this drama was to have the next season, wouldn’t you be curious about how things would go between the estranged couple?

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

scarlet heart ryeo

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo was adapted from a Chinese novel named “Bu Bu Jing Xin”, this show was first released on 2016 as a 20-episode drama. In an Eclipse, Go Ha-jin (IU) found herself suddenly transported back in time after drowning in a lake. She became Hae Soo, who is the cousin of the 8th prince’s wife. During her time in the palace, she ends up falling for Wang Wook (Kang Ha Neul) who is the 8th price. But she later realizes that she also had feelings for the mysterious 4th prince Wang So (Lee Joon Gi). However, a happy ending was not in the cards for them, but who’s to say that it won’t happen if there was to be a second season? It may have ended with such heartbreak, but what if it was Wang-so who was now given the chance to travel into the future to find Ha Jin? We can only cross our fingers, but stars, Lee Joon Gi and IU have expressed their interest already, but we hope that things all fall into place! Color us excited!

Okay, so there has been news about a coming sequel to this engaging police procedural drama, but everyone’s itching to know when it will come out. The storyline is nothing less than spectacular as it seamlessly woven timelines from the past and the future to catch a serial killer. It was also a race against redoing time to avoid the murder of Lee Jae Han (Cho Jin Woong). Criminal profiler Park Hae Young (Lee Je Hoon) and Detective Cha Soo Hyun (Kim Hye Soo) have to be faster than the culprit if they want to spare Jae Han and reverse his unfortunate fate. Unfortunately, doing so came with some consequences. The ending satisfied fans, but it also left many wanting more about the trio. Are they going to team up and clean up the corrupt police and justice system? With their expertise all coming together, there’s still a lot of possibilities for these characters to look forward to!

Arthdal Chronicles

This fantasy drama was headlined by some of the top-notch K-drama stars today such as Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won, and Jang Dong Gun. Set in a mythical kingdom, the central plot revolves around a power struggle. The series gave a three-part first season that led everyone to anticipate a great battle between good and evil only to end up with a cliffhanger. Fortunately, the team behind the show confirmed that there will be a second season but they’ve remained tight-lipped about it. There is no recent news of any cancellations, but it has been confirmed that all main actors will reprise their roles!

Memories of Alhambra

Before Hyun Bin captured hearts as Captain Ri, he first played the role of CEO Yoo Jin Woo. He is the CEO of an investment company and a talented game developer. Memories of the Alhambra consistently topped cable TV viewership ratings in its timeslot making it a commercial success. The drama has grabbed the audience’s attention for its unique theme that revolved around augmented reality. It even earned praise for its high-end computer graphics, cinematography, and fast-paced storytelling. However, the drama ended vaguely leaving viewers wondering if Hyun Bin’s character made out alive or not. Although Netflix or TvN has not yet made any official announcement on the show’s renewal, a petition was launched to compel the creators to renew it.

Vagabond

Cha Dal-Geon (Lee Seung-Gi) is a stunt man who becomes the guardian of his nephew Cha Hoon (Moon Woo-Jin). Go Hae-Ri (Bae Suzy) is an undercover NIS agent. Cha Dal-Geon and Go Hae-Ri team up to investigate a flight crash case where Cha Hoon was one of the casualties. Dal Geon and Hae Ri went on an action-adventure hunt packed with conspiracies and love between the two leads. Unfortunately, the pair got separated only to make an unexpected reunion later on. The story is engaging and thrilling, but it needs to be fleshed out some more. Fans have been pinning for a second season, but there is no official statement for its release.

Hwayugi: A Korean Odyssey

Three years since the series concluded, fans are still waiting for a second installment for this fantasy TV series. The first season was highly successful as it received glowing reviews even from critics. With an intriguing storyline that did a great job at hooking in viewers, the show became one of the highest-rated Kdramas. By the end of its first season, its average audience share was 6.1% which is pretty impressive. As a result, fans became confident that the sequel would be in the works. However, that didn’t happen. Although it may be unlikely for the Kdrama to get a renewal after its first run since it ended on a conclusive note. It sort of ended any possibility for a second season. However, the popularity and fandom that the series attracted have many hoping for a spin-off series at the least.

Squid Game

If there’s one phenomenal success this year, that crown would probably go to Squid Game for its shock value and hard-hitting life lessons. Years of preparation truly paid off as the series became a phenomenal success! Everything about it only shows the impeccable production value that only augmented the captivating storyline. However, the ending only left many assuming that THERE SHOULD BE A SECOND SEASON. Can Seong Gi Hun (Lee Jung Jae) bring down the Goliath behind the games? Until then, let’s just cross our fingers, and let’s hope that should a second season come to fruition, it will be well worth the anticipation!
