A successful South Korean businesswoman, Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin), who has been running her own company for the past 10 years is being asked by her father to take over his conglomerate. Even though she is disowned and has left her family more than 10 years ago, her father decides to make her the heiress of the conglomerate instead of her two incompetent brothers who only know how to create troubles for their family and make their family looks bad in the public eyes.
One day, while paragliding to test her company’s latest paragliding apparel, Se-ri was caught by an incident whereby strong winds turn into a tornado horrendously. She was sucked into the tornado. By the time she wakes up, she was stuck hanging in mid-air under a tree.
Initially, she thought that she found a North Korean officer, Ri Jung-hyuk (Hyun Bin) who has escaped to South Korea, and pointing a gun at her. After that, she realizes that she is in the North Korean side of the DMZ zone.
Instead of arresting her, he was being convinced by her to let her escape. He provides her with the escape route back to South Korea but she ends up crossing a fence that leads into North Korea instead.
Due to this mistake that Se-ri made, Jung-hyuk ends up hiding and protecting her instead, partly to cover his own mistake of not arresting her previously.
